Our curriculum in Years 7-11

Our curriculum in Key Stage 3 and 4 gives all of our students the opportunity to experience a wide range of exciting subjects, designed to challenge our students and give them a thirst for learning.

Key Stage 3 (Years 7, 8 and 9)

In Year 7, English, mathematics and science ‘set’ our students according to their particular ability. So for all of the subjects listed in the table below, students are taught in mixed ability groups.

At Key Stage 3 students follow a broad and balanced curriculum which is aspirational and challenging for all. We have high expectations for every student in our academy and we focus on the principle of opening minds and opening doors through a world class education system.

Year 9 Pathways

Ebacc

During Year 9, students will make their option choices in preparation for KS4.

The  wide range of GCSE options available to students enable them to have the opportunity to access a braid and balanaced curriculum.

Key Stage 4 (Years 10 and 11)

The curriculum pattern provided for Year 10 and 11 students closely follows the National Curriculum requirements for Key Stage 4 (14-16) with all students studying for qualifications in the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science.  Our curriculum at KS4 is reviewed annually in order to best meet the needs of our students.

Throughout our curriculum design, we interleave SMSC and fundamental British values in order to prepare our students to be valued citizens of our local, national and international communities.

Accessible Curriculum

At Royton and Crompton E-ACT Academy, we nurture a culture of full inclusivity, supporting students with a wide range of needs. We have a particularly diverse learning community welcoming students of all abilities from many different backgrounds and cultures. Our students are encouraged and supported fully so that they leave ready to succeed in the challenging and competitive world around us.

Staff receive regular training in all areas of SEND so that they are able to adapt, scaffold and support all students effectively.

Effective assessment and provision for children with SEND or any other additional needs, will be secured in partnership with parent/carers, the young person, our academy network, the Local Authority, and any other appropriate external services. Working closely with a range of stakeholders, we support students, ensuring compliance with both the Equality Act 2010 and Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014.

If you have any further questions please contact SEND Co-Ordinator Mrs S Mcdermott (Stacey.McDermott@rca.E-ACT.org.uk) who will be happy to provide you with further information on how we can support the individual needs of your child.
