The Journey With No Destination by Lucy Walton

14 April 2022

We are proud to announce that one of our very talented Year 11 students, Lucy, has released her very own printed book full of her poems!

Lucy is selling each book for £12 (plus a £2.50 charge for postage) with the intent to raise awareness around the impacts on mental health. A percentage of the profits made will be donated to ‘Positive Steps’ as they have previously helped Lucy.

Lucy has written a personal message which can be found in the book:

“This book is filled with the majority of poems I have written from being of the age of 7, the first poem being written and published at the age of 11 up until the very last one being written in the present day. In these poems, I highlight the raw emotion felt at the time whilst covering topics such as bullying, sexual assault and mental health as a whole. The poems are all written in hope to make people believe that they are not alone when fighting these battles.

I chose the title, ‘The Journey with no Destination’, as there is no end to mental health and it can feel as though you are getting nowhere, but I promise you, you are doing amazing. Throughout these poems, I hope that you, as a reader, can see how the smallest comments can have a major impact on a person’s mental health and wellbeing and I am determined to help at least one person in our society.”
