Huge congratulations to Ellie Mead

Huge congratulations to Ellie Mead who has been awarded ‘Runner up ‘ prize  in the Student of the Year awards.  This is a competition run by Oldham Rotary Club to recognise the achievements and efforts of students outside of their academic environment throughout the whole of the Oldham borough.

Ellie is a member of a local cadet contingent and has recently been promoted to Lance Corporal. She has been given the responsibility of  training new cadets that she has fully embraced . She has passed her training in instructing junior cadets with flying colours. Ellie is also an officer in the cadet contingent in school and is peer mentor to all the younger cadets. She takes responsibility for leading drills and training. Ellie’s ambition is to be an army medic .

Ellie is also a student ambassador (Prefect)

Although Ellie was studying hard for her GCSE’s she has selflessly put her elderly neighbour’s needs first and has shopped daily for several people, also sitting in their gardens to speak to them to keep them company during lockdown.
