Team Ash Manchester to Blackpool Bike Ride 2022

12 June 2022

This year Ashley Dixon, Regional Deputy Facilities Manager, is teaming up With Gary Livesey and TEAM ASH to complete the Manchester to Blackpool Bike Ride 2022.

The aim is to raise funds to provide a defibrillator cabinet that will be positioned on the pavilion at E-ACT Royton And Crompton Academy. The cabinet will house the defibrillator that Gary previously provided for the Academy in his son’s memory.

Ashley Livesey was a former pupil at Royton and Crompton Academy who sadly passed away from heart failure whilst participating in cross country for the school when he was just 15 years old. His father Gary is constantly trying to raise money and awareness for SADS (Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome). This is when someone dies suddenly following a cardiac arrest and no obvious cause can be found.

Gary kindly donated to us our academy’s first Defibrillator machine and is always in touch with the academy, often attending award nights for the pupils.

The ride will be completed on 10th July 2022. The last time Ashley completed this ride was 5 years ago and the same day his dad took his last ever motorcycle ride. This means that this ride will also have extra emotional connections to him. He previously completed the ride in 2017 in 3 hours and 40 minutes and this year he plans to beat that time (if all goes to plan).

Ashley has set up a just giving page www.justgiving.com/TeamAshRCA.
