Safeguarding COVID-19 Update

Royton and Crompton Safeguarding COVID-19 Update

As a community, we need to ensure our young people remain safe and well as the country slowly goes into lockdown mode.  This could mean that our young people are spending more time on social media than normal and potentially putting themselves at risk.

Our Pastoral Leaders will continue to make contact with families during school closure to ensure everyone is safe and well.  It is vital that you speak to our dedicated staff when they telephone to put our minds at rest.  It will also prevent us having to escalate any concerns onto the local authority and the police if we are unable to make contact.

As parents and carers, you have the responsibility to know what your child is doing on social media. Please ensure that your child’s privacy settings are high to minimalise risk.  We also suggest that you put a daily limit on their phones/tablets as research shows that too much time spent on these devices can lead to poor mental health.

For further internet safety, please see our dedicated safeguarding webpage where you can find useful links to help keep your child safe.
